A colostomy bag is a plastic bag that is used to collect fecal matter, which is also commonly referred to as stool or poop, from the digestive tract through a surgically created opening in the abdominal wall, called a stoma. After a colostomy operation, surgeons attach a bag to the stoma to collect fecal matter.
